The return of skirts

SkirtDresses have reigned over skirts too much, and now the latter have come to take their revenge. Fashion is known to be a fickle beast and there is no surprise when last season's best friends suddenly become the next's worse enemies. This is what happened to dresses, which are out now, while full skirts are firmly back in trends.
The return of the skirt comes with a new way of dressing though, as this piece is just one element in a complex puzzle called "separates". This new trend, believe it or not, was brought back to life by many starlets this season, Carla Bruni Sarkozy being their leader, as she looked magnificent when she stepped on British soil a couple of weeks ago and she pulled that off with a skirt. However, that look is not for everyone, which is why it's very important to learn how to wear a skirt and what to match it with.
Firstly, you have to choose a length that flatters your silhouette. A full skirt hovering around the knee will look fresh but it can be easily adapted to suit if it's too long or short. Indifferent of the choice, it must fall from the waist. To highlight the waist you need to tuck in as well, as the combo you are putting on will only look sloppy if you hide it under a shirt. You can beautifully reveal your shape with delicate blouses and fun tops that can be pushed beneath the skirt's waistband.
A tailored blazer might funk everything up a bit, whereas for shoes, there are two ways you can go when wearing a full skirt. You can either go for a pair of flats, which grants you a more informal look - they can be upgraded to sandals come this summer - or you can go for skyscraper heels, which will make you look extremely tall and thin especially if paired with a high-waisted skirt.
